How to select the right size for your dog:

ToeGrips are sized based on nail circumference, not dog size. Measuring the nails is an important, one-time step. Improperly sized, ToeGrips may quickly fall off or migrate up the nail, causing harm. Follow these instructions to learn how to measure your dog’s nails.

Step 1: Wrap a piece of dental floss around the midshaft of the toenail.

Step 2: Hold the floss, wrapped around the nail circumference, with one hand.

Step 3: Use a Sharpie to mark across both pieces of floss. This will generate two points.

Step 4: Stretch the floss and measure the distance between the two points in millimeters.

Step 5: Repeat for all weight-bearing nails on one front and one back paw.

Step 6: Based on the measurements obtained (not the average), use the chart to select the proper size. Sometimes a dog will require a combination of two sizes.

I don't even know where to begin on how pleased we are with the toe grips. The day they arrived, Brody stepped off the bed and couldn't gain any traction to get him self back up on the hard woods. It's the worst thing to watch. I got him to lay down and after about 20 minutes he was wearing his new toe grips. He was a bit hesitant to stand up at first as he usually runs as quickly as he can to build up momentum in order to get from one rug to another. He stood up on his first try on the wood floor. Within minutes he realized he was able to grip and has since been around us walking around the house constantly. He doesn't think twice about being on the hard woods now. It's unreal the progress we've seen in a matter of one week! He typically stays in his room on the bed most of the day, but since we put the toe grips on, he is on the move constantly. I've had Brody for almost 11 years now and this is the most progress he's shown since he began showing signs of degenerative hip disorder years ago. It brought tears to my eyes when he began confidently walking around, with no problems. I will be a lifetime customer and will advocate your product anytime the chance presents itself. Thank you for changing mine and Brody's lives for the better. I will forever be grateful and I know he will be too.

It has been a little over 6 weeks since Tom has been wearing the toe grips. I am noticing that he is standing and walking more upright on his feet. He is 12 and weak in the rear, however, I feel they are helping him with his balance overall.

Got Wednesday's (5 1/2-year-old tripawd) toe grips in the mail yesterday, they are amazing. She can walk on the linoleum without slipping and sliding all over the place. And she hasn't tried to take them off, *yeah*, plus they are easy to get on and off.

My nineteen years young princess Sabrinnah is getting a grip on life once again thanks to the Toe Grips! I just can't thank you enough. The shipping was fast and the communication amazing. Sabrinnah is a border collie lab mix, in other words she's a mutt, lol. But, she's my princess and priceless in my eyes. Give them a try. Don't get discouraged if one fall off here or there, they'll eventually stay. They're worth every penny. God bless you all for what you're doing for our four legged furr babies with tails!

My lovely Lady is a rescue Dalmatian. Poor soul came to me 7 years ago, after she was pulled out of a puppy mill in Gainesville, New York. She chose me. She’s been a wonderful dog, but she’s had her challenges. Poor thing was full of every parasite in the book. Cleared those. Surgery for mammary cancers from overbreeding. Check. She needed extensive dental surgery to fix teeth she’d ruined chewing on her cage. Done: 13 extractions and removal of a malignancy in her jaw bone. Then she got idiopathic vestibular disease last year. She’s a fighter and she overcame it. She and I loved our daily runs together, she got her balance back and we kept on running. But then old age quickly set in. Suddenly, she could get up. She couldn’t eat without her legs splaying underneath her. She lost weight and muscle tone. She became quiet and retiring because she was nervous on the slippery floors. She stopped greeting me at the door when I came home because she didn’t want to get up. Normally a clean dog, she started having accidents wherever she was because she wasn’t confident to get up and go out. When I boarded her at her kennel two months ago, they asked if she had lost the function of her hind end. I said, “no, she just needs you to lift her to her feet. She can’t get to her feet by herself any more.” I was so sad for her – I could see in her mind she was still the young girl I rescued from Gainesville and she couldn’t understand her body betraying her. It came so fast. I heard about toegrips on Facebook, and so I ordered some. After I put them on and she realized she wasn't sliding any more. She got a spring in her step right away. Now her legs stay still while she's eating/drinking. It's still a challenge, but she can actually pull herself to her own feet on a hardwood or ceramic floor now. This gives her some independence and confidence. She is happier now. Her tail is wagging. When I come home, she even gets to her feet and greets me at the door. Without her anxiety, she’s even cleaner in the house, and I can leave her uncrated overnight again. She is happier, I am happier. The toegrips only stay on with friction, so a few will come off every day. This is a problem because in 3 days, they might have all come off. A drop of Krazy Glue will secure the toegrips, so you don’t have the daily fall-offs. Just wear some disposable gloves. Put your toegrips in rubbing alcohol in the usual way. Take them out of the rubbing alcohol then drop a bead of krazy glue in the centre of the toegrip. Then apply it the same way you normally would. When you’re done, throw away your disposable gloves. I bought a couple of spare sets of toe-grips – it’s cheaper than a vet visit. It's cheaper than a bottle of analgesic.

The toe grips are awesome. Madison(12) has allot of difficulty getting up and walking on the slick surfaces in this house. The toe grips were a breeze to place on her nails. I have been amazed that Madison has left the toe grips in place because she will chew on her nails at times. Madison's confidence has been boosted by the toe grips. I should have purchased the toe grips much sooner.

I have been using toe grips for about 3 months and they work perfectly! I have to put a little super glue in them as my 13 yr old yellow lab has degenerative myelopathy and they tend to slide off without it. He no longer slips or splays out on the hard wood floors. Getting ready to order my third set and so happy they work so well!! Buddy says thank you for this product!!

    (verified owner):

Buddy is a six year old Lab/Terrier mix. My wife and I adopted him from a local SPCA in upstate New York when he was fifteen weeks old. He IS our only child. He's very smart (potty trained in a week!) and affectionate, and until a month ago had only known carpeted floors. Oh, he's also spoiled rotted. We recently moved to North Carolina and our new home has hardwood floors. The poor guy looked like a baby deer on ice. It's gotten so bad that he looks at the floor with trepidation and has strained his front legs and needed to visit our vet. The great staff at the Youngsville Animal Hospital recommended Dr. Buzby's toe grips. We ordered three sets (to make certain that he had the right size, large fits him best) and applied them today. The results were visible almost immediately! He has more confidence and appears much happier. We would like to thank you for providing a wonderful product and wish you much success. Here is Buddy. And even though he has more stability, he still prefers the lap of luxury. Adam & Jennifer Spinelli

We are calling this product totally successful for Laila Ali. As a tripod with her back leg as an FHO, walking on hardwoods and slick floors, a major challenge she balked, slipped and slid. We did have to use crazy glue front and back, because anyone that knows Laila knows she's a bit of a wild child! Dad and I were most impressed with turns, she'd wipe out and you never knew which direction that paw would be facing prior to Toe Grips. Her tripod brother will be 10 this year, navigates much better than her and has full use of his back leg, but I feel for longevity sake, hip safety, and the occasion he does slip, he'd benefit from going no slip as well. Thank you Dr Buzby for an amazing product, and for the tube of glue, we used it all doing all toes. And everyone who knows Laila I know is asking, is she trying to pull them off? Nope! She's totally ignored them. No more throw rugs covering every inch of hardswoods! Yay! Actions speak louder than words, so take a look at https://m.facebook.com/TripawdLailaAli/ in action. Remember now, no back hip joint on that remaining leg!

My Australian Shepherd Kobe will be 14 years in April. He's got arthritis in his joints and some muscle atrophy in his hind legs and we have Pergo floors. Watching him struggle to get up was so heartbreaking for us and so frustrating for him. I knew there was no way that he would wear any type of sock or boot and carpeting the house was out of the question since that is not in the budget, so I kept searching the Internet for an alternative and came across Dr. Buzby's ToeGrips. Yay! I wasn't sure what size to buy so I ended up taking Kobe to a local vet who came up in my search for the ToeGrips who would do the trimming of nails and determine the sizing. This was in December. Kobe is just now at the point where he will need them to be replaced as we notice he is losing traction, and since we now know his size we can get them directly from Dr. Buzby and my husband can keep his nails trimmed. I thank God for Dr. Buzby's ToeGrips because it's given my dog his confidence back and the ability to get up on his own. If you've purchased the Grips and they're falling off I'm sure that you've purchased the wrong size. In all this time I've only had to replace two, (the pack comes with 4 extra grips) and that's been fairly recently. I love what Dr. Buzby's ToeGrips have done for my boy. Thank you!

I love the toe grips and the wonderful customer service. They've given my dog much more traction on our floors! Dr. Julie and her workers have been a great help in helping me make sure I have the toe grips on properly and in troubleshooting what was wrong when I first put them on and had difficulty. I highly recommend watching the GREAT videos before putting on the toe grips. They're wonderful! I recommend these grips to anyone who's dog is having traction issues. No matter their age, I think these easy to use grips are well worth it to give them more comfort and fewer falls in their lives. My dog is much happier and active indoors with her grips! If your dog has lots of paw hair like mine, I recommend keeping their paw hair short to ensure good contact between the grips and the floor. Wonderful product!

I want to let you know that this is the best invention ever for dogs! Our 13 year old dog 'Gotti Bear' would not walk across the hardwood floors in our home which presented a huge problem. We had scattered throw rugs all over the house so he wouldn't slip and hurt himself. We took him to the vet last week and they put the toe grips on his back paws and we immediately saw a difference. His confidence soared and he can now safely walk on the floors. Thank you for this incredible product

My holistic vet, Dr. Nancy Bozeman located in Kennedale, TX introduced me to Dr. Buzby's ToeGrips for my 4 year old Catahoula. I was told by a traditional vet my dog needed double knee surgeries. In addition to alternative medicine I feel the ToeGrips had a major part of my dogs healing as she did not have to struggle to get up. I would not just recommend the use of ToeGrips for older dogs but in many other situations as well. We still get our pedicures monthly and will continue to forever. My dog is now 6 years old. Thank you for developing this product!

Until we lost Mika earlier this month (at well over age 16) her ToeGrips made a big difference for her being able to get around on hardwood floors in particular. Right up to the end, she wore them on her front paw claws, though we eventually had to move to grip socks and booties on the back (but only for the last month or so). The only issue I ran into was having the ToeGrips come off and go missing. But I didn't want them to be too hard to put on or take off, so had to live with the consequences. Thanks!

Our 12 year old lab has been falling a lot on our laminate flooring (we just moved in late October ). We were using runners etc to try to help. She insisted on laying on the laminate because it's cooler. We read about these toe grips, bought some, put them on. We waited 24 hrs to see how she did with them. All I can say is: OMG THESE ARE FANTASTIC! Thank you Dr. Buzby.

After placing my order I received an email stating they were sending the size I ordered plus a set one size larger because of concerns about my dogs size because of his breed. The email also had suggestions to make sure that their product was as comfortable and effective as possible for my baby. I would recommend everyone give them a try!

Typically, we would recommend size Large for your dog. Though labs can be XL, Large is the most popular size. Alternatively, if you could measure, that would be ideal! :) Click here for directions.

I bought these to help my almost 18 year old doxie. He has trouble standing straight and splays out while eating. He loses his footing on the wood floors as well. I tried these out, and was sent two sizes to check which would fit Dudley better. They are amazing. They work perfectly, but sadly Dudley is dragging his feet and they come off of him, but when they are on his feet, he is like night and day. He walks up right and gets a good grip on the floor. I still pick them up when I see them and put them on his toes, even wearing 2 or 3 on each foot helps a lot.

My arthritic 14 year old Goldie, "Sammy" has a new "leash" on life since he started wearing toe grips. He was barely able to stabilize when standing never mind walk without them. Once I applied them..he began to walk with so much more assurance and stability that I wish I had known about them sooner. I buy the Orange(he weighs 84lbs) and they fit perfectly. I'm about to buy my third set as they need to be replaced every 3 months or so. Toe grips has been one of the best inventions for dogs..if you love your dog and they have a problem with mobility, arthritis or just old age..please purchase toe grips

I am so glad I found these! My Lab 10 years old has been having problems on our hardwood floors. I made paths with rubber backed rugs but she would still have issues when in between rugs. We tried socks with a tiny bit of rubber on the bottom but she ate them. I found Toegrips and really wanted to try them. Excellent experience with my first order. My lab hates her feet messed with but does not chew at the Toegrips, something I was concerned with. I am already seeing more confidant walking. This is definitely something I will be reordering! Thank you to everyone at Toegrips :)

I ordered Dr. Buzby's ToeGrips on Monday for our 12 yr old border collie/boxerand received them Wednesday and promptly put them on. Diddles has been struggling with getting up from the wood floors and getting up and down the stairs to go outside. The first time he got up from the floor after putting on the ToeGrips it was obvious they helped. He had traction and didn't struggle. He made short work of the stairs. Best investment ever for our older arthritic boy! THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU for these great aids!

I absolutely love ToeGripz. My 13 year old mill rescue Yorkie Frankie Ann was afraid to walk on my laminate floors, so I had smelly hairy yucky runners everywhere. I took her to my groomer to have them put on, as its definitely a two person job. After just a couple of days and a few treats, she's running everywhere. I love them!!!

ToeGrips have been absolutely life changing for my senior boy Oliver. We adopted him when he was 10 years old, and his back legs and hips were in terrible shape. He also tore his ACL a few months after we brought him home. The majority of our home has hardwood floors or tile, and it was very easy for Oliver to slip, even with rugs. As soon as we put the ToeGrips on Oliver, his mobility throughout our home improved. It's truly amazing to see the difference in his movement now, he is able to get around easier than I've ever seen him before. ToeGrips have also provided me peace of mind, because I feared that Oliver would slip and re-injure his ACL. I highly recommend ToeGrips to anyone with a senior or special needs dog.

I got mine a few weeks ago my senior is moving around a lot more and harder to catch lol. I do recommend everyone to check the grips daily or every couple of days and push them back in place. A few have come off after a week. That's my fault for not checking and readjusting them. Ordering my next batch soon. I give this product a thumbs up! Wonderful!

After 13 years of my dog slipping and sliding, tip toeing, and scared to walk across slick floors he RUNS across them! He not only had all these problems before, but now as he has gotten older with arthritis and Spondylosis he had an even tougher time. He ran across the floor last night for the first time and was so excited and proud of himself. This morning was even better after all his rest and his morning excitement showing through! Thank you so much! Wish y'all had come out with these 13 years ago, but it's better now than never

A friend told me about Toe Grips and so I decided to give them a try. Wookie, an 80 lb husky mix was beginning to have trouble even standing up, and he would often slip with his legs splayed out in a painful way. I could help him right himself but worried about what might happen when I wasn't around. The yoga mats all over the house helped some but were not a great solution. Toe grips are truly a dream come true for him. He's a whole new dog and he seems to be getting stronger as his mobility continues to improve. I've given my vet a great report and he will recommend them to other old pups as will I! A million thanks. Love, Jean and Wookie

For over 3+ years, my ten-and-a-half-year-old Lab, Cali, has been successfully wearing ToeGrips. Without Dr. Buzby's product, Cali could not continue her duties as a therapy dog at our local high school where she works two days per week. At the age of two-years, Cali developed a fear of slick floors. Our floors at WHS are so highly polished that they look like ice. Cali's natural instinct in this situation is to grip with her toes resulting in more slipping and sliding and in turn more stress. Before we discovered ToeGrips, Cali used mesh topped boots with rubber soles, but these were not ideal. The boots became moist in the damp grass during bathroom trips and rubbed sores on her feet making them painful. Cali did not enjoy her therapy work as much when her feet were encased in boots. With the ToeGrips, Cali's feet are in a natural state. The grips give her proprioceptive feedback and increased traction both of which boost her confidence. The best part is that Cali does not even realize she is wearing the ToeGrips, and once I got used to putting the ToeGrips on her, I discovered I could put them on as quickly as I did the boots. Thanks to Dr. Buzby, the WHS students and staff continue to benefit from Cali's special brand of love, and she enjoys a stress-free environment, which means Cali again looks forward to "work" days.

Thank you for making such a GREAT product! My 86lb lab now has a much easier time getting up and around on our tile floors. I use to find him stuck in a position and had to lift him up. I've seen this product advertised and at first thought it was silly, and as many others was very skeptical. This product is better then I could ever imagine! We ripped out all of our carpets last year and our 11 year old husky absolutely hated the new "slippery" hardwood floors. we had a few falls and I could tell how insecure he was with his footing while walking around. In my desperation I was looking into getting rugs for the whole house including the kitchen, but so happy I ordered these toe grips instead. They are truly amazing! For the first time since I can remember our boy was running around in the spair room, jumping and trying to play with our 11 month old pup! Koa (our husky) hates having things on his feet, but he hasn't tried to get these things off at all. Wonderful product, would recommend (and already have) to anyone with a dog who may benefit from this great product. Thank you!!!

What an awesome product!! I have an elderly Alaskan Malamute and she has (or should I say had) a terrible time getting up. Thank you so much!

    • (verified owner):

Dear Tricia, Thank you for your interest in Dr. Buzby's ToeGrips for your German Shepherd. Most dogs will leave ToeGrips alone as they do not touch the sensitive part of the nail bed when applied correctly. However, there are exceptions to this and therefore situations where we do not recommend continued use of ToeGrips because of chewing and possible ingestion. ToeGrips were designed for senior dogs with mobility issues. There are many reasons why we do not recommend ToeGrips on young, active dogs, one being chewing the ToeGrips. A young dog may be more likely to chew at the ToeGrips than a senior dog simply because of their life stage. The other scenario in which we see chewing is with dogs that already have OCD tendencies. Nervous anxiety or separation anxiety can also pose an issue with chewing on ToeGrips. These dogs generally will not relent until they have removed all offending grips. Therefore, we do not recommend continuing use of the ToeGrips in this case. Before you get too discouraged, this represents a very small percentage of dogs we have fit with ToeGrips. There are thousands of dogs wearing ToeGrips that do not notice them at all. Hi, I have a question as well. I have a 2 1/2 year old Olde English Bulldogge with idiopathic epilepsy. He does have some neurologic deficit and he does drag all 4 of his feet. His back end also slides out on him. Our home is mostly linoleum and hard wood. I have noticed that he is starting to limp on his back right leg as well. Would he be a candidate for the toe grips? He also enjoys licking his feet (he has some skin allergies too) Would the glue application help him not eat the toe grips off as well as keep them on when he's walking around? Thank you for your help!

Just wondering if these go over the whole toe or just the nail? I don't understand how they stay on. My 13 year old lab has severe arthritis in her hind knees and won't bend her legs so her back legs are sliding out. We've placed carpet over all the hardwood but her feet are still sliding. Do people think this product would work? Thanks Laurie
    • (verified owner):

Dear Laurie, Thank you so much for your interest in Dr. Buzby's ToeGrips for your Lab. She sounds like a great candidate for ToeGrips as many of our customers have dogs with arthritis. ToeGrips adhere to the nail only by friction. Think of a wide rubber band that will stretch to fit over the nail, but is snug enough to keep from falling off. The ToeGrip should not contact the sensitive tissue of the toe itself or the nail bed. We do recommend an alternate application with glue for dogs with neurological deficits because the dragging associated with this will pop off the ToeGrips. If you decide to try ToeGrips we offer a 60-day money back guarantee, so you can try ToeGrips risk free. Thank you again for your inquiry. Please let us know if you have any additional questions. You can contact us directly at customercare@toegrips.com. Sincerely, Tara

Maddie (14 year old Beagle/Boston Mix) suffers from back issues and drags her feet/ slips often. I am so glad I found Dr Bixby's Toe Grips! They recommended we super glue them on and that seems to keep them in place for longer. Maddie is slipping less and doesn't seem to mind them on her toes. I love how she is more willing to walk on our tile and laminate floors!

My springer spaniel has had tremendous success with toegrips! After a disc injury 3 years ago which left him unable to move his back legs independently he is now walking and running after birds thanks to some great rehab care and toegrips! They help him get traction on wood and tile floors, which is really challenging for him since the injury. Thank you so much for Toegrips!! Woof!

Winnie, my almost 14 year old boxer girl loves her toe grips! Before the toe grips, she couldn't greet me on the kitchen hardwood floors when I came in the door because she would slip and slide around. She'd look like Bambi on ice! I'd come in the house and rush to the living room for her boxer wiggles and kisses. Since the toe grips, she's back to wiggles in the kitchen on the wood floor the second I walk in the door! Winnie says thanks Dr. Buzby!

I just wanted to thank you so much for your product. I have a 5 year old Great Pyrenees with elbow dysplasia. We recently moved and our new home is mostly tile and hardwood. Additionally, there are two wooden stairs between the living room and the rest of the house. Nanuk was having a lot of trouble with the stairs and had started pacing back and forth for minutes before walking up them. I was getting concerned because her limping was becoming worse since moving and I could see her confidence deteriorating. I saw and ad for ToeGrips and even though elbow dysplasia was not listed as one of the reasons for using there product I thought I would give it a try anyhow. It was a great decision. Nanuk no longer paces. She takes the steps easily and he gate has improved vastly! I could not be happier with the results. It does my heart good to see my girl so much more comfortable and confident.

Yeah for Dr. Buzby's Toe Grips!! It is shocking to me to see how my Luke's ability to get up from the tile floor has degraded in the last three years. Julie, your toe grips make such a difference in his ability to get up and greet us when we've been out, when he needs/wants to get up to eat, go out, etc. I'm hoping my clinic, ABCDE Animal Clinic, will start carrying them! They work so well for our sweet deaf but still frisky Sheltie Luke! Xox Di

My 13 year old Lhasa apso/poodle has severe arthritis and really struggles on our hard floors. I first put the grips on when his nails were really long... Then I saw a thing Dr. Buzby posted about trimming nails. I got his nails trimmed then reapplied. HUGE difference. He's not slipping and sliding nearly as much. Totally worth it!

Wonderful product!! Works 100% as good as advertised. I was skeptical at first, but they produced instant results. My almost 15 year old cavachon has been wearing the same set for a few months now and we've only lost 1! With regular nail clipping and adjusting them after the toe grips continue to help my boy walk comfortably. Thank you Dr Buzby!!!!

Buzby.

Diddles has been struggling with getting up from the wood floors and getting up and down the stairs to go outside. The first time he got up from the floor after putting on the ToeGrips it was obvious they helped. He had traction and didn't struggle. He made short work of the stairs.

I had ordered toe grips and ordered the wrong size. I contacted the gang at the shipping email and got a prompt response. They immediately gave me some helpful information and sent out the correct size. I got them on Lucas, who is 12 yrs old, and he no longer looks like Bambi on the hard wood floors. Thanks again. Great support, Great product

I was worried he'd hurt himself and started my search. I found Buzbys grips and since I've put them on him he can do and go like he pleases! Thank you so much! We will spread the word!

These are amazing! My dog has been using these for over a year now. I don't know what I would do without them. My dog is not just a pet to me. He is a family member. I will do anything I can to make him comfortable. These have helped him tremendously!

Her front paws would slide on the floor and she had difficulty getting up on her hind legs. As soon as I put on the ToeGrips, the difference was immediate. No more slipping on those slick floors. Thank you so much!

I'm curious if there's been issue of dogs obsession with licking paws and getting them off? My dog can easily spend a hr locking her paws and that's my only concern. She's 14 pomeranian and I can't bare to watch her slipping anymore...... Info would be great thx

I was skeptical that these were going to be effective, but my dog (disk disease and a subarachnoid cyst in the spine) can walk on my wood floors, no problems! Amazing product, and as a vet I will recommend these to my clients!

The ToeGrips make it easier for Gypsy (14) to walk on hardwood floors. She seems much more confident and they don't bother her at all
